Taste and dine with a winemaker online in the comfort of your own home!

For those stuck at home missing wine bars, cellar doors, and dining out at the best of Melbourne’s restaurants, here is our new online experience to break the isolation blues - and help support small, independent wine and hospitality businesses dealing with the impact of bushfires and COVID-19.

On the eve of Good Friday, we trialled a first ever live virtual experience with a group of customers, Henty winemaker Jackson Brooke and Executive Chef Geoff Lindsay from Lamaro’s Hotel in South Melbourne.

A sample selection of 8 of wines were delivered courtesy of the winemaker to participants homes. With the evening hosted via Zoom video conference, guests were able to have a relaxed evening of wine tasting, dining and insights at home, with the usual interactive conversation of a face-to-face event in The Wine Loop.

With a 4 course- menu also delivered direct to participants’ doors, the guests hit the kitchen at the same time and sat down together throughout the evening to enjoy Geoff’s easy to heat and serve customised menu paired to both the wine and to dietary requirements.

Chef Geoff also joined the video call at the start of the night to chat about the menu and answer questions about the simple food prep.

And, given the intimate group format, all of the virtual dinner guests were able to interact, chat and be part of the conversation with Jackson real-time – with no need for chat messaging, presentations or Q & A!

The feedback from those who participated was resoundingly positive, so to keep you connected to other wine lovers during these times of self-isolation, I am pleased to reveal the dates of two more virtual events with Jackson and Geoff. If these go well, we’ll be looking to add dates for more winemakers and restaurant pairings soon.

Bookings are now open! With just 14 seats at each table, each event comes with all the background and insights of the in-person experience in The Wine Loop.

These virtual format experiences can also be made available for whole groups of 12-14 friends, colleagues or clients. If this is something that is of interest to you, please call Karen on 0438 729255 or email karen@thewineloop.com.au

Supporting small, independent wine and restaurant businesses in our city and country has never been more critical than this, so whilst it’s a little different, I hope you’ll find the experience as enjoyable as our first group of guests did.

Hoping to see you in The (Virtual) Wine Loop soon!
